Jason,
Since the last update, I have noticed that my icons, such as the Google graphic, and my bank's graphics are in low resolution on my 1024x768 screen, and turning off image zoom seems to correct this problem. Has anyone else mentioned this kind of problem?

Hello Jason, check out this thread: http://www.donationcoder.com/Forums/bb/index.php?topic=8538.new#new
It basically discusses how images can't be set to fit in Firefox by default. It goes on to mention your extension and how this can be done manually through that about:config.
I think I'd be requesting for others as well as myself when I ask that this option would make sense to have in the options menu.
Thanks!

I'm having the same problem as Roland above. I don't believe it to be resolution-specific, though, as this is happening on multiple machines / resolutions.
Certain images seem to be arbitrarily shrunken down to .75X their normal size. I'm disabling the plugin in the meantime, since it seems to be messing up enough sites' layouts to be bothersome.

just installed version 0.3 to find that it makes zoom values universal across tabs.
could this please be made an option? i much prefer setting zoom levels on tabs on an individual basis.
i'm in the process of hacking it to disable the application of zoom levels to all tabs.
cheers & thanks for the excellent extension!

I tried to set to autofitlargeimages
Result DO NOT DO THAT.
I screws sites like gmail (probably by resizing images that are dynamically updated) and freezes firefox with 100% CPU load.
I filed a bug with full description here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384156

Hi, I'll try to explain my problem in English.
I've been using ImageZoom for maybe 1 year, and it's perfect.
but since last week, I have problems.
and I didn't change anything, just, maybe, Vista automatic updates...
since last week, FF is very long, it takes 5 to 10 seconds to go from one tab to another one... and 10 to 15 secs to upload Net pages.
I tried to unactivate every extension.
when I unactivate IZ, it works perfectly.
But, IZ is so usual, that I don"t want to leave it.
could you help me ?
does anyone has the same problem ?

Hi
I'm trying to figure out why, when I enable this extension, some images get zoomed in. When I tell ImageZoom to reset, they get sized to "100%" but in truth the images are closer to 1,000%.
What did I do?
I think I hit Ctrl + . at one point

EDIT: Never mind. It was the global zoom in the View menu.
Can the global zoom settings be moved somewhere that people expect it to be, eg under tools?
And maybe an option to disable the shortcuts...

In Firefox 2.0.0.5 and under Vista 32-bits there's something wrong with the scaling of graphics when Image Zoom is disabled. Under XP you see no difference in rendering "quality".
If you disable this extension (so under Vista) it looks ok again.
Can you check this out ? Images look poorely scaled, like they have been scaled to a smaller size, then upscaled again (or the other way around).

I've also relied heavily on ImageZoom for over a year and love having it available. Just recently my website, http://www.sharonlippincott.com, became corrupted on my desktop computer, but not in IE and not on my laptop. On the desktop, all graphics were so fuzzy I thought I needed new glasses. Disabling ImageZoom took care of the problem.
This situation began shortly before I switched to a new computer, and followed me across the divide. I'm still running XP Pro, not Vista, and have the latest Firefox version, 2.0.0.5.
I have my fingers crossed that you can fix this, quickly and easily. I'll be watching for its return.

Jason, first let me thank you very much for the ImageZoom program. It's a elegant addition to Firefox, and I use it a lot (running with WinXP-Pro)
However, the most recent version of Firefox 2.0.0.6 now seems to automatically trigger ImageZoom whenever I alter text size.
For example, beginning with freshly started version of Firefox, text size is "normal" and the ImageZoom line in the View meno shows "Zoom (100%)".
After I click "View | Text Size | Increase", not only does text size change, but all the image sizes on the page increase also. The ImageZoom line in the View menu now shows "Zoom (120%)"
This causes images and text to overlap, which defeats the whole purpose of increasing the text size to make it more legible .
There seem to be some recent changes to Ffox (version 2.0.0.5+) that are incompatible with ImageZoom. I hope you will have time to look into them, and perhaps issue a new IZ version. I'd REALLY miss it if I had to disable it because of these incompatibilities.
Again, thanks for a terrific program that's really enhanced the utility of Ffox for me.

Hi,
Image Zoom 0.3 destroy my maps at maps.google.de. It divides the map tiles . Maybe it's incompatible with Firefox 2.0.0.6 ?

The .3 version definitely screws up .PNG graphics. I finally had to disable it.
As stated before, the graphics become low-res if image zoom is on.

Image Zoom 0.3 selected and every time I reboot I find that the Google toolbar is also installed. If this is something you are doing it needs to stop. I have wasted another 15 minutes tonight uninstalling the Google toolbar which always seems to coattail onto your ad-on. I think if I wanted the Google toolbar I could download it. If it is someone else you need to find the issue and resolve it. Or at least give us poor users an option to not install the thing. In the meantime image zoom will be uninstalled.

The only reason I came here is to PRAISE your work!
Most EXCELLENT EXTENSION EVER!

FYI, image zoom is screwing up the formatting of web pages displayed with firefox 2.0.0.8. Uninstalling image zoom corrects the problem.

Jason,
I've just upgraded to Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Image Zoom 0.3 on a Mac (OS X 10.4.11) -- all previous combinations of Firefox and Image Zoom have worked just fine, but with this combination the contextual menu does not work. When I right click on an image there is no contextual menu at all. I have removed all add ons and installed Image Zoom alone...same thing. I'm very disappointed because it seems that I will no longer be able to use Image Zoom. I have read that a few other people have experienced the same problem, so is this something that you can fix/intend to fix? I certainly hope that you have the time and/or the interest to do so because you have written a great add on and having had it for a few years, I will find it very hard to live without it.
If anybody else has experienced this problem and knows of a fix, please let me know.
Thanks, Simon

posting here (if it works!) because cannot post to forum - wants javascript on even tho it IS on - same problem in FF and IE. Anyway, here's my message - but I am just going to disable this thing until I feel like wasting some more time:
I am brand new to IZ - like, an hour - and I hate to ask a question so early but - I set a couple of images on one page to 0,0 dimensions. Is there any way to get them back? Seems like I need to select an image before I can reset it ...
I am using 0.3 on FF 2.0.0.11 on Vista.

I've been using Image Zoom for some time with no difficulties. However, with Image Zoom 0.3, I am finding eBay, for example, is slowing down considerably when loading various pages and moving between tabs is also slow. In general, the entire performance of my browser is slow and sometimes jumpy when Image Zoom 0.3 is enabled.
I am running Firefox 2.0.0.11 on a Linux system with Ubuntu 7.10 as my OS. I disabled all of my Add-ons, and then went back and meticulously loaded each noting the results. Whenever I have Image Zoom 0.3 enabled the above occurs.
In checking around this site I've noticed some others have had somewhat similar problems from time-to-time.
This is a great extension. What I'll do is remove it for now and then try it when a new version is released.
Thanks for this great Add-on and thanks for all of your work on it!!! And I will load the next release for sure to see if it works OK on my system.

Hi,
I'd been quite happy with image zoom till just now. Suddenly it is displaying web images at FULL size, even when the web html says to shrink the image (e.g., img src="whatever.jpg" width="100" height="100" displays the FULL SIZE jpg. This mangles some web sites. Disabling Image zoom all images work fine. It fails on both my Windows XP machines. I have version .3 of image zoom.

I've had to disable Image Zoom 0.3 in FF 2.0.0.12. Maps from Google and Yahoo (at least) are not displaying correctly (broken up into square blocks that don't match up).
If you want a screenshot comparison I took, email me.

Wonderful - Have used this extension from almost day one of Firefox - and it is by far the extension I use the most.
Absolutely marvelous additions with the fit, and zoom scroll, and resize automation.
Thank-you very much for your time and efforts.

Hey, when I updated to your 3.1 I lost all keyboard shortcut ability.
I un-installed and reinstalled the original from April and shortcuts work again.
As I work from my car much of the time, this is really important to me.
Thought you would like to know.

Very nice utility, but I didn't like the popup afterwards telling me it's been updated. I already know this because I allowed it to update.

Thanks for this brilliant extension - I've been using it since the early days.
I like the new feature to autofill the screen (hold right button then click left) - one minor suggestion: could you make it so that when you repeat this it resizes the image to its original size? I find it's quite easy to do this by accident, and quick way to put things back to normal would be great!

The "secret" feature provided by "imagezoom.showAutoFitInMenu = True" should be placed in FF's KB or FAQ files.
I've battling with this degraded performance problem for months without realizing it was an Add-ON / AutoZoom caused problem. Let's have more transparency!

I love the auto fitting of the image to screen size with the two mouse buttons, and also the ability to dynamicaly resize the image through holding the right mouse button and scrolling the wheel up or down. Sohhhh cooool.
I love Lotusgreen's suggestion of Resetting the image to original size, through repeating the procedure (right click hold, and left click). That would be a real time saver.
I really dont expect this, but simply will provide for your contemplation an additional idea;
The ability to control the rate of resizing which occurs when doing so through the scrolling wheel. Perhaps it can be accessible through the menu that comes up from right clicking the image; ; and the menu from "Zoom Image" -> Zoom In, Zoom Reset, Zoom Out,Custom Zoom, etc
Thank you very much for a most usefull add on. It is one of my favorites.

Are you up for using some method of smoothing images as an option in the plugin? Enlarging pictures is fine the way it is for the most part, but enlarging things like webcomics (which are very tiny on small screens or large screens with high resolutions, doesn't work very well. I either need to use multiples of two in percentage or not use it at all when it would just benefit me most if I could enlarge the image very quickly in the same way Image Zoom does. Or maybe there's a complimentary plugin that I need to know about.

One of my early loves of the FF extension world. However, I have discovered I must disable it, as IT is the culprit for my missing purple route lines when printing Google Maps (as well as removing transparency from marker icons). This is in FF3 on Mac OS X 10.5.3. I suspect other odd issues I've had were related to this as I've seen the other problems users have commented on before. Glad to get rid of the problems, but not glad that it was because of Image Zoom. I love this app, but it needs some serious quality control cleanup. :(

I tried to post a bug report to the Image Zoom forums, but I was told I needed to enable Javascript even though Javascript is enabled. I tried with both Firefox and IE. Should I post the bug here?

Aloha Jason,
I've used Image Zoom for years with Mozilla up to v. 1.7.13. Now I've changed to Seamonkey 1.1.11, which seems very finicky about extensions.
Will your current version work with SeaMonkey? I've found that incompatible extensions cause the back and forward buttons to gray out and the location bar to remain static.
Mahalo for your response.
